Back Home in Texas
WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 26, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — I’m thrilled to be home in Texas this week! I will be attending some great events and meetings with folks across the district. I will be in Lubbock meeting with homeschoolers from the Texas Home Educators Organization. It’s always great to meet with our youth and future leaders. I will also attend the Lubbock Area Republican Women Luncheon. I’m looking forward to meeting with our local credit unions to discuss the economy and what I am doing to bring regulatory relief to our community financial institutions. At the end of the week, I will travel to Big Spring to meet with local officials. I will then head over to the VA Hospital in Big Spring to meet with the Director of the West Texas VA Health Care System. Our veterans deserve the best possible care and I will continue to fight to ensure they receive proper treatment. On Friday afternoon, I will speak at the Greater Big Spring Rotary Club about the top issues facing our nation and the conservative solutions we need to make America stronger. If I don’t see you this week, I hope to see you in the weeks ahead as I travel across the district!
Hillary Clinton’s Emails Under FBI Investigation
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton finally turned over her private email server that she used to conduct government business. While Clinton wants everyone to believe this is a conservative plot against her, the reality is that the investigation came at the request of the Obama Administration’s Inspector General and the Obama Administration’s FBI. This is a big deal and a very serious matter concerning our national security. Clinton has also insisted that no classified or top secret news was discussed on her private email. But last week, the Associated Press reported, “two emails on Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private server that an auditor deemed ‘top secret’ include a discussion of a news article detailing a U.S. drone operation and a separate conversation that could point back to highly classified material in an improper manner.” This is unacceptable and we must get to the bottom of this scandal.
The Obama Administration’s Failure to Protect Christians Around the World
Last August, President Obama signed a bill into law creating the State Department position of Special Envoy to Promote Religious Freedom of Religious Minorities in the Near East and South Central Asia. It’s been over a year, but the Obama Administration still hasn’t nominated someone for the role. This comes at a time when Christians and other religious minorities are being targeted around the world. A recent headline in the New York Times Magazine asked, “Is This the End of Christianity in the Middle East? ISIS and other extremist movements across the region are enslaving, killing and uprooting Christians, with no aid in sight.” The report specifically mentioned, “ISIS is looking to eradicate Christians and other minorities altogether.” In an opinion piece in the Washington Post, Charles Krauthammer recently wrote, “Christianity, whose presence in the Middle East predates Islam’s by 600 years, is about to be cleansed from the Middle East.” Before it’s too late, the Obama Administration must do more to defeat and destroy ISIS while protecting Christians and religious minorities around the world.
