The Austin Board of REALTORS® supports Family Eldercare
AUSTIN, TX – August 12, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) held its first Fan Fare Friday on August 2nd to raise funds and fans for Family Eldercare, an Austin non-profit organization providing a range of services, including heat relief to older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers.
“Each summer we hold our Summer Fan Drive to help us generate support for our core services,” said Family Eldercare representative Bill McLellan. “We rely on the support of organizations like the Austin Board of REALTORS® to ensure that the thousands of request for fans can be filled in addition to our other services.” The REALTOR® association raised more than $3,000 in donations to Family Eldercare and collected more than 45 boxed fans.
Popular food trailers, Hey Cupcake! and Evil Weiner also attended ABoR’s Fan Fare Friday, thanking donators and families with free menu items. Additionally, ABoR provided a dunking booth, snow cones and a snow machine to ensure attendees stayed cool. “Not only does the organization work to keep the elderly in our community cool during the hot months, they also provide services like low-income senior housing,” said ABoR’s Community Affairs Committee Member Barb Cooper. “As REALTORS®, we’re excited to back Family Eldercare as we see the need for affordable housing in Central Texas grow.”
