Addresses Homeland Security Conference
SAN ANTONIO, TX – Dec. 03, 2007 – Gov. Perry today addressed more than 3,500 emergency management and homeland security professionals at the Texas Homeland Security Conference, sponsored by the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management.
“The combined strength of committed, experienced officers working together across divisional lines, equipped with advanced technology, sufficient resources and the freedom to make decisions are the key to our current and future safety,” said Perry.
The Texas Homeland Security Conference is one of the premier training events for emergency management and homeland security professionals in the United States. Participants include representatives of law enforcement, border security and port security, transportation and cyber security, as well as firefighters, emergency medical personnel, Texas Military forces, voluntary organizations, private-sector representatives, officials from higher education, public education, health and medical care, and public officials from local, state and national government. The conference features more than 100 workshops and classes that will provide the latest training and education in homeland security matters such as border operations, emergency management, law enforcement, mass care, communications and Fire/EMS.
