Congressman Al Green Attends Ribbon Cutting of The Pointe at Crestmont Apartment Homes

(Houston, TX) – (RealEstateRama) – On Thursday, April 25, 2019, Congressman Al Green attended the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for The Pointe at Crestmont Apartment Homes:

“I am honored to salute Mayor Sylvester Turner, Houston City Council Member Dwight Boykins, the residents and leaders throughout the Crestmont community, as well as LDG Development for a job well done in reconstructing and revitalizing the apartment homes located at 5602 Selinsky Road. Working together, they have set a standard for much-needed further development of affordable housing in the Crestmont area. Their hard work and determination to create this public-private partnership – using federal community development block grant (CDBG) funds, tax increment reinvestment zone (TIRZ) funds from the City of Houston, as well as a conventional loan and other funds – are outstanding. I am a firm believer that people dwell in houses and live in neighborhoods. The previous apartment complexes located in this area were neglected by landlords and management companies, forcing tenants to survive in unlivable conditions for far too long. This is an improvement not only for this property and those who will dwell therein but also for the entire neighborhood.

“As the former Harris County Precinct 7 Place 2 Justice of the Peace, I heard lawsuits referencing the inhumane conditions and squalor that residents in the previous complexes endured. When I took the oath of office as a Member of Congress in 2005, I vowed to serve the people of the Ninth Congressional District of Texas and attempt to improve the quality of life for all Americans especially the least, the last, and the lost. It brings me joy to know that this commitment combined with the tireless efforts for affordable and fair housing projects that my colleagues and I pursue on the House Financial Services Committee have sparked hope for a bright future for this neighborhood and for the future tenants of The Pointe at Crestmont Apartment Homes.”
