COME HOME: “The Home Buying Process”

-

On March 29, Mayor Bill White and the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) will host, “ COME HOME: The Home Buying Process” at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

“Our goal is to provide affordable housing and sound, principled financing options that help you build wealth and help us build strong communities,” said Mayor White. “Come to this home buying event and get the information you need to build on your dream.”

The general public will learn the home buying process from industry experts. Lenders and builders will be available to assist homebuyers with selecting their dream home; and housing counselors will be available to help with credit questions and securing a loan.

There are a variety of programs available to assist income eligible homebuyers with the down payment needed to lower their interest rates and mortgage payments.

The City of Houston’s Homebuyers Assistance Program (HAP) offers down payments in amounts up to $30,000 for families and $40,000 for police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and teachers; the City of Houston is just one of many exhibitors at the event.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their credit report and score, which they can get from www.AnnualCreditReport.com. The event will take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center 1001 Avenida de las Americas, in Hall B3, from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. For more information please visit http://www.houstontx.gov/houstonhope/news.html
