City of Fort Worth Public hearing set for 2015-2016 Action Plan for use of HUD funds

Fort Worth, TX – April 30, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — The Community Development Council will conduct a public hearing at its May 13 regular meeting to receive comment on the 2015-2016 Action Plan for the use of federal grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The 2015-2016 Action Plan for the City of Fort Worth summarizes the major housing and community development activities and proposed expenditures from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) grant funds for the upcoming 2015-2016 program year.

The total anticipated amount of grant funding is $9,820,979 for the 2015-2016 program year — Oct. 1, 2015, through Sept. 30, 2016 — although actual funding amounts are subject to federal budget allocations and may be reduced (or increased). Activities and/or programs which receive funding during the year must contribute to the attainment of goals outlined in the city’s 2013-2018 Consolidated Plan

Anticipated funding includes approximately $6,332,270 in CDBG funds, $1,934,447 in HOME funds, $552,108 in ESG funds, $1,002,154 in HOPWA funds, and approximately $680,000 in CDBG and HOME program income. The purpose of these funds is to benefit low- and moderate-income individuals and areas throughout the City of Fort Worth. ESG grant funds benefit homeless persons and persons at-risk of homelessness.  HOPWA grant funds benefit individuals with HIV/AIDS within Tarrant, Parker, Hood, Somervell, Wise, and Johnson Counties.
