Hurd Votes to Protect Energy Consumers from Executive Overreach

U.S. Representative Will Hurd acted to protect energy consumers today by voting in favor of the Ratepayer Protection Act, which passed the House on a largely partisan vote. This bill will delay, pending a judicial review, the deadline power plants are facing to comply with new carbon dioxide emission rules proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It also gives states relief from implementing the Obama Administration’s Climate Action Plan if it’s determined that it will adversely impact prices or the reliability of the state’s electricity grid

Olson Votes to Protect Energy Consumers

Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today voted to restore power to the states and court system by requiring the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to delay implementation of their new Clean Power Plan. The bill H.R.2042, the Ratepayer Protection Act requires EPA to delay this plan until the courts have completed the judicial review process.

Smith Supports Bill to Empower States over EPA Regulations

House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) today praised H.R. 2042, the Ratepayer Protection Act of 2015 in a hearing on the economic impacts of the Environmental Protection Agency’s plan to regulate power plants. The bill, which passed in the House, would give states flexibility and even exemptions from federal regulations if a state’s governor determines that such plans would increase electricity prices. The purpose of today’s hearing was to examine a U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) report Chairman Smith requested in August 2014 and that was released last month.
