Early Tuesday, House Bill 2590 (HB2590) passed the Texas Senate on a unanimous vote. The bill, authored by State Representative Eric Johnson (D-Dallas) would allow state and local prosecutors to take action to combat a form of real estate fraud where scam artists sell homes to unsuspecting, less-affluent buyers that the seller does not own or have legal rights to.
Presidential Disaster Declaration Granted For Texas Counties
On Friday afternoon, Governor Greg Abbott requested a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Texas counties due to damage sustained from the severe weather, tornadoes and flooding. The President this evening granted the request for funds that will aid Texas counties as they continue to recover and rebuild.
City allows earlier watering hours under two days per week restrictions
The City will continue to enforce a two-day-per-week schedule for households, but will expand hours outside the previously allowed 6 p.m. to midnight period to allow residents to irrigate plants and lawns anytime on their designated watering days.

Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) today released the following statement after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its controversial Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule, under a new name, the “Clean Water Rule.” The EPA has long claimed the rule is intended to define which bodies of water can be regulated by the Clean Water Act. USDA Rural Development Under Secretary Lisa Mensah today announced nearly $30 million for 15 projects to build and improve water and wastewater infrastructure in rural communities across Texas.
