Commissioner Miller Announces $750,000 Grant Award to Grow Jobs in Montgomery

AUSTIN – July 2, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller today announced the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has awarded $750,000 to the city of Montgomery through the Texas Capital Fund (TCF).The grant will be used for water, sewer, road and drainage infrastructure improvements, as well as engineering services. The award will support the creation of a retail grocery facility operated by Kroger Texas Ltd. and result in 52 new full-time jobs.

“The Texas Capital Fund is a smart investment that grows jobs and rejuvenates local economies across Texas,” Commissioner Miller said. “This award will help enhance economic development in Montgomery, and I salute these efforts to support business expansion.”

Federally funded through the Texas Community Development Block Grant program, TCF provides more than $8 million in competitive awards each year to boost economic development in small Texas communities.

TCF is administered by TDA’s Office of Rural Affairs and provides funding for projects in four different program areas: Infrastructure Development, Real Estate Development, Main Street Improvements and Downtown Revitalization.
