Poe and Green Disappointed with Changes to Water Resources Development Act

In response to discouraging changes to the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) that removed vital support for our nation’s ports Congressman Ted Poe (TX- 02) and Congressman Gene Green (TX-29) issued the following statements. The House is expected to vote on WRDA next week.

Mayor Annise Parker Announces 62,000 More Homes Added to City’s Automated Curbside Recycling Program

Mayor Annise Parker and Harry J. Hayes, Director of the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD), are pleased to announce the addition of 62,000 to the City’s popular automated curbside recycling program. As part of the expansion, residents in neighborhoods throughout Houston will receive a new 96-gallon green automated cart similar to the black automated garbage cart they already have. The green carts will take paper, plastics, metals and glass out of the waste stream.

Condominium sales in Texas’s major metro areas increased and townhome sales fell in the first half of 2016, according to the Texas Condominium Mid-Year Sales Report. Released today by the Texas Association of REALTORS®, the report shows that condominium sales in Texas’ four largest markets have seen increasing demand over townhomes and single-family homes among young professionals and retirees. This is the first time in the report’s history that condo and townhome statistics have been reported separately.
