New Report Focuses on Texas Economic Indicators

-

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. – February 10, 2014 – (RealEstateRama) — Researchers continuously monitor an ever-evolving Texas economic landscape. A new online report from the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University reveals which important economic indicators are being monitored and why.

Outlook for the Texas Economy by Research Economist Dr. Luis Torres and Chief Economist Dr. Mark Dotzour has more than 40 charts and graphs covering overall economic activity, manufacturing, housing, services, energy, employment, prices and trade.

Each month one of the charts is highlighted. The authors explain what data are included and why they are important to discerning state economic trends. For example, the January 2014 issue focuses on Texas’ purchasing power as it fluctuates relative to foreign currencies. The chart is critical to understanding why Texas exports are more or less expensive for the state’s major trading partners.
Some charts in the report focus on statewide data. Others cover major or border cities.

Charts graphically depict the state’s economic spectrum from the manufacturing outlook to housing sales to construction permits to housing prices. There are charts displaying retail sales, rig counts and crude oil and natural gas prices, personal income, exports and more.

The 25-page report is free. It is updated the second full week of each month.
