Reyes Announces $3.1 Million USDA Grant to Provide Water for 80 Homes
Washington, D.C. – January 24, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) announced today that the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Water and Waste Disposal Program awarded a $3,111,500 grant and a $500,000 viagra to El Paso County.
These Rural Development funds will be used to provide potable water to approximately 80 homes in Colonia Revolucion. The Colonia is located northwest of Horizon City with a population of about 280 people. The project will connect to the El Paso Water Utilities which will provide potable water to the residents. The proposed project will address the many health concerns and safety concerns in trucking their own water, and storing it in unapproved tanks.
“The funds for this project are critical since they will provide potable water to the residents of Colonia Revolucion. Water is one of the most pressing public health concerns and is essential for long-term sustainability,” said Congressman Reyes. “If we can secure access to potable water for all people, regardless if you live in the city or rural areas, we will be successful in combating various diseases and the result will be a healthier, stronger more vibrant community.”
“El Paso Water Utilities has been working with El Paso County for the past two decades to bring potable water to the colonias,” said Ed Archuleta
President and CEO, El Paso Water Utilities. “This is another step in many positive directions the utility has been proud to be a part of.”
