CB Richard Ellis Launches Shelter Program and September 2010 “Get Out and Give Back” BuildMonth
Houston, TX – September 8, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — CB Richard Ellis has announced that it will partner with HomeAid Houston to provide housing for the homeless in Houston during its September 2010 “Get Out and Give Back” BuildMonth through CBRE Cares, the company’s national corporate philanthropy program. More than 20 CBRE offices will participate in rebuilding projects during this month of giving back, which will benefit local communities in partnership with HomeAid and Rebuilding Together, CBRE Shelter Program charitable partners, as well as Habitat for Humanity.
On September 24, 2010, 60 CBRE volunteers will partner with HomeAid Houston to assist the Santa Maria Hostel. The project will primarily include painting apartments and other areas of Santa Maria’s House of Hope, which harbors the admissions office, residential and outpatient treatment and supportive housing.
This project is one of several U.S. projects that will be spearheaded by CB Richard Ellis offices in California, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Texas and Washington during the company’s “Get Out and Give Back” BuildMonth in September. , CBRE will provide employees with paid time off for their participation in the BuildMonth projects.
“This new program aims to build on company and individual contributions to our communities by more closely aligning our business with our giving endeavors. By partnering with HomeAid Houston, we are providing real estate solutions to assist those in need of a helping hand,” said Connie Wiegel, a senior office operations manager of CBRE.
“HomeAid Houston is delighted to have the help of volunteers from the Houston office of CB Richard Ellis through the CBRE Cares program to update the facilities at the Santa Maria Hostel, a transitional housing facility for women and their children in crisis. Their assistance at this critical time will enable us to provide a clean and well maintained facility and enable them to better meet the needs of their clients,” said Bette Moser, Executive Director.
In 2010, CB Richard Ellis selected HomeAid as one of two charitable partners to implement the company’s Shelter Program. Rebuilding Together—an organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods by providing complimentary home repair and renovation services to those in need—was also chosen as one of CB Richard Ellis’ partners. This collaborative effort is designed to improve the housing options for low-income communities across the country. To find out more about the partnership, visit www.cbre.com/cbrecares.
CBRE Cares is governed and executed by the CB Richard Ellis Foundation, an independent, non-profit, public-benefit corporation that funds CB Richard Ellis’ philanthropic initiatives.
