Bcl Of Texas Secures $130,860 Grant For Foreclosure Prevention Counseling

Austin, TX – December 5, 2008 – (RealEstateRama) –  NeighborWorks America announced today that Business & Community Lenders (BCL) of Texas has been awarded a $130,860 federal grant to increase foreclosure prevention counseling services across the state.

The grant will help BCL of Texas hire and train additional foreclosure mitigation counselors and volunteers. Award dollars also will help promote BCL’s Foreclosure Counseling Program (877-688-7457) to provide at-risk borrowers with free home counseling services in their community.

“We know that families facing foreclosure are in crisis mode and they need neutral, informed guidance to help them understand their options,” said Ken Wade, CEO of NeighborWorks America.  “This funding provides nonprofit organizations the critical resources they need to meet the burgeoning demand for foreclosure prevention counseling assistance.”

The grant comes from the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program, which was approved by Congress as part of the FY2008 Appropriations Bill. Dollars and was awarded based on a competitive application process. BCL of Texas was one of 134 award recipients nationwide and received the second-largest award of Texas recipients.
